Is Chromebook targeting Macbook also?

From the beginning Google Chromebook is picturised to be the new and powerful rival for the microsoft industry.But as their model pictures are revealed samsung chromebook seems to work on making a laptop much thinner and lighter than the 11 inch Macbook Air.But they are not successful completely the chromebook is slightly bulky than the Mac.But it is quite ok for the first attempt

.So Chromebook is estimated to be a better rival for the Macbook also in near future as they compromise the harddisc for storage and hence they will be capable of making much thinner ones.
