An Indian Leading ‘ChromeBook’ Team

An Indian Leading ‘ChromeBook’ Team

CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES: Google has recently launched Chromebook, a computer which stores no data, but automatically stores the data in Google’s servers (Cloud).
Chromebooks are built and optimized for the web, where you already spend most of your computing time. So you get a faster, simpler and more secure experience without all the headaches of ordinary computers. With Chromebook, you do not have to worry about hard disk crashing or backing-up the data, as whatever data you create, it is stored on the cloud. Chromebook is a revolutionary progression in Web services, which could theoretically reduce computers to mere devices to access the Web.

Forrester Calls Google’s Chromebook ‘Corporate Idiocy’

Forrester Calls Google’s Chromebook ‘Corporate Idiocy’

LAS VEGAS – Let’s begin this story the same way a murder mystery starts — with a few bare facts. The victim is Google’s Chromebook . The crime scene is Forrester’s IT Forum here, and the alleged suspect is George Colony, chairman and CEO of the research firm.
In the opening scene, there is the Chromebook computer, our victim, trapped with no place to hide or means to defend itself.
The Chromebook has no intelligence, no local storage, and only works when connected to the Web. Having sized up his victim, Colony then moves in. Chromebooks, based on Google’s new Chrome OS, will be available next month.

Google Chromebook will feel for Music Fans

Google Chromebook will feel for Music Fans

ChromebooksGoogle just announced the only innovative WebGL-enabled music video on Wednesday, but most importantly for the future of computing- its chromebook series of netbooks, which sit between the tablet and laptop. It is designed from the ground op for cloud computing.
Google envisions schools and businesses opening up Chromebooks, initially from Acer and Samsung, at bulk rates for deployment across students and businessmen. Plenty of regular people will also buy personal computers over the years. Their data and software continue to migrate to places where they can be accessed by multiple personal devices.
If you think of it, if all your music and applications are stored online, you wouldn’t need to carry a laptop. Music fans are making the transition from iTunes-style music collecting to the cloud — not only on these recently-announced Chromebooks, but also on smartphones, tablets, and other computer-like devices that are not computers — they’re in for some big changes:
The main attraction of cloud music is its elimination of bloated client-side software like iTunes, which duplicates music files all over your hard drive, eats up RAM, and requires wires to transfer music to devices. Instead, the computing devices will function more as input spots for uploading songs, bookmarking them in YouTube, tagging them as favorites, adding them to your personal collection, or making playlists out of them in order to find them more easily within a large subscription library.
The media and playback software will exist on a server far, far away, whether it’s administered by Google, Amazon, Apple, or whoever. You can now say goodbye to knowing where your music actually stays — the future of music collecting lies not in storage, but in access.

Why cloud computing?

Why cloud computing?

Cloud Computing may Replace External Hard Disks in future: Through Cloud Technology every user can upload their personal datas into the cloud or internet. The user just has to pay the cloud computing service provider and enjoy the flexibility of the newest of future data storage technology. User can access their data anywhere, anytime and anyhow.Users need not to be consious about forgetting about the data storage device, such as hard disk external.

Cloud Computing Technology Could Find Wi-Fi Password: Computer security researchers from Germany, Thomas Roth found ways to take advantage of cloud computing technology, breaking the password on the wireless Internet network. He says that the software run using Amazon’s ElasticCloud Computing Service (EC2) and can solve millions of possible passwords in several seconds.

Future Game Console Based On Cloud Computing:Console games in the future will rely on cloud computing technology rather than the hard drive as storage media.Latest technology of sony cloud computing is the presence of Sony Playstation Network (PSN) which is connected directly to the Internet network. With Sony PSN gamers can easily connect to a network that allows them to play together at the same time and same game of course. PSN has a very sophisticated technology. By adopting cloud computing technology, gamers can play wherever, whenever and however they want. As long as they have a PS3 console, gamers can easily be connected back to the game we will play in seconds. However, PSN is not without weaknesses. Game technology-based cloud computing a few months ago was attacked by hackers with alias “anonymous”. User data that in the cloud computing server was lost and can endanger gamers.

cloud computing saving energy

Cloud Computing Proven Saving Energy: A new report has been presented about the debate over whether cloud computing is a technology solution to run a green data center. A cloud computing survey conducted by Pike Research has shown that cloud computing saving energy is “substantial. ” In the report entitled Cloud Computing Energy Efficiency, market survey company is stating that the adoption of cloud computing will lead to a decrease of 38 percent in data centers around the world, which will create energy saving in 2020.

As part of the adopted cloud computing scenarios, Pike Research estimates that data centers will consume as much electricity 139.8 terawatt / hours (TWh) in 2020, and will be a reduction of 31 percent from 201.8 TWh in 2010. So that was reported by PC World. This cloud computing energy saving would push total spending on data center energy down from USD23.3 billion in 2010 to USD16.0 billion in 2020, and caused a decrease of 28 percent of greenhouse gas emissions during 2010. According to Pike Research about cloud computing energy saving, the report shows cloud computing are able to achieve industry-leading levels of efficiency. The report highlights the fact that big companies will have the financial resources to offer the same level of efficiency in their own data centers. Pike estimated that many of the processes being handled by the datacenter today will be transferred to the cloud in 2020. “The growth of cloud computing will have a significant positive effect on energy consumption of data centers,” said senior analyst at Pike, Eric Woods.   Cloud computing will be saving energy in the world.

Chromebooks to Ship with Offline Versions of Google Apps

Chromebooks to Ship with Offline Versions of Google Apps

One of the problems with the marketability of the Chromebook -- that it only functions when connected to the Internet -- is also a misunderstanding. Google's Chrome OS doesn't have any locally installed apps like a word processor or spreadsheet manager, so many believe that Chromebooks are dependent on and useless without Wi-Fi or cellular data connectivity. But when Chromebooks ship on June 15, they'll come packaged with offline versions of Gmail, Docs, and Google Calendar.
Sundar Pichai, vice president of Chrome's product management, announced at the Google I/O developer's conference that the company has been using offline versions of Gmail, Docs and Calendar for months, and that not only will Chromebooks sport this feature, those three core services will be available offline to everyone this summer.

Google is positioning itself as the leader for online productivity and our tech culture's future in the cloud. However, it's neglecting to highlight its offline features -- a marketing oversight that may hold many back from adopting Chrome OS.

Is Chromebook targeting Macbook also?

Is Chromebook targeting Macbook also?

From the beginning Google Chromebook is picturised to be the new and powerful rival for the microsoft industry. But as their model pictures are revealed samsung chromebook seems to work on making a laptop much thinner and lighter than the 11 inch Macbook Air.But they are not successful completely the chromebook is slightly bulky than the Mac.But it is quite ok for the first attempt

.So Chromebook is estimated to be a better rival for the Macbook also in near future as they compromise the harddisc for storage and hence they will be capable of making much thinner ones.

Samsung Series 5 Chrome OS laptop hands-on at Google I/O

Samsung Series 5 Chrome OS laptop hands-on at Google I/O

We never had much doubt about what Samsung would be showcasing at tonight's finale event at Google I/O 2011, but now it's official -- the outfit's first-ever Chrome OS ultraportable is making its debut in San Francisco, and we've been fortunate enough to grab a bit of hands-on time. Slated to ship to consumers, businesses and educational institutions on June 15th, the 12.1-inch Series 5 is a strikingly svelte machine, and there's no doubt that holding a 0.79-inch rig gives us all kinds of chills. The company took a bit of time to play up its "Power Plus" battery technology, lasting up to 8.5 hours with "active use," or 5 hours of straight video. There's also a new hitch in the Verizon Wireless data deal -- 100MB will be tossed in each month on the 3G model, but contrary to what we'd heard earlier, that ends after two years (rather than lasting for the life of the product).

The hardware feels tremendous -- stiff, solid and well appointed, much like Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 Limited Edition. It outclasses the other sub-$450 netbooks we've seen in both style and rigidity, and while we'll always have a special place in our heart for the CR-48, it's pretty clear that this particular unit was in the oven for some while. We've hoping to spend some serious time with this guy in the middle of next month, but for now, here's what we can tell you -- the 1280 x 800 display is both crisp and sharp, with shockingly great viewing angles for a machine of this price. The keyboard's far from cramped, and if you've had your doubts on the 12.1-inch form factor, we're guessing one touch of this would have those running for cover. Oh, and the trackpad? One of the best we've felt in the PC universe, and one that we hope crops up elsewhere in the near future. It's right about on par with the one found on the CR-48 (post update), which is also stellar compared to most netbooks.

Obviously, we aren't here long enough to test the ultra-longevous battery (said to be good for over 1,000 cycles -- perfect for education and business users who are apt to adopt it), but we'll be sure to do our best once we settle down with a production unit. We're told that it'll be available in Titan Silver or Arctic White, provide a chiclet style keyboard, a multi-gesture trackpad (which supports two-finger scrolling) and "instant" wake from sleep.

Chromebooks Are Doomed to Fail

Chromebooks Are Doomed to Fail

Chromebooks from Samsung and Acer is to be hit the street next month. Google hopes to revolutionize mobile computing and free us from the shackles of the traditional PC experience, but the Chromebook is going to fizzle.
Why? Three reasons: culture, functionality, and price.
Culture
The Web has come a long way, and Google is not wrong in suggesting that everything you want to do can be done on the Web. Well, mostly.
You can use Google Docs (or even Office Web Apps) to replace your locally-installed productivity software. You can store your files, photos, music, and more in cloud-based storage options on the Web. You can use Web-based email. It is pretty much all out there for you.
But, there are some things you can't do strictly on the Web--like play Portal 2 or Minecraft, and living completely in the cloud takes a significant culture shift. There is also a huge trust factor with storing your entire life online, and the small issue of what happens when you can't get connected to the Internet and your Chromebook is a glorified paperweight.
Functionality
The Chromebook is functional enough once you get past the culture shift issues, but it doesn't offer different functionality than you can already achieve with a laptop. Any netbook or notebook can also use Google Docs, or Webmail, or the Amazon Cloud Player. In fact, the laptop is arguably better in this area because you can choose your browser rather than being limited to Google's Chrome.
The Chromebook is not any lighter or smaller than a standard netbook. It boots up faster, and has longer battery life than a full notebook, but so do most netbooks. The difference between the Chromebook and a standard netbook is that with a netbook you can do everything you can do with a Chromebook, and you can still do all of things you normally do with a PC.
Price
Essentially, buying a Chromebook is like buying a television that is only capable of delivering some of the channels, even though there are televisions available for the same price that can give you all of the channels. The Chromebooks are going to retail from $350 to $500. Funny thing about that--at BestBuy.com there are 15 netbooks listed that range from $230 to $530.
Now, if the Chromebook was $100, or even $200, it might be easier to make a case for the value it provides. But, the Chromebook is basically a handicapped netbook that costs the same or more than some other netbooks that have much greater capabilities.

Five Reasons why Google's Linux Chromebook is a Windows killer

Five Reasons why Google's Linux Chromebook is a Windows killer

When Google first started talking about Chrome OS, I thought it might be turn into a Windows killer. Well, now we know that the first commercial Chromebooks will be available in mid-June and there’s no question: Google is aiming right at the Windows business desktop market.

Can Google do what the Mac was never able to do? What the various desktop Linuxes, even the most popular ones like Ubuntu have never even come close to pulling off? I think it can. Here’s why.

1. Attractive business packaging and pricing
ZDNet Editor-in-Chief, Larry DIgnan, hit the nail on the head when he entitled his Chromebook overview: Google Chromebooks: Aimed directly at Microsoft’s PC upgrade cycle for $28 a month. Exactly so. For $28 a month you get a constantly updated operating system and, this is the killer part, Google will also automatically, with no extra charge update your Chromebook or ChromePC every three years.
Would you spend $28 a month for a PC that will never go out of date? I think I would.
What’s more important, I think a lot of businesses would as well. Indeed, many already are. Neil Levine, formerly Canonical’s VP of corporate services and founder of the new cloud analytics company Soba Labs, tells me that “Many Fortune 500 companies are already trying rent-a-laptop scenarios. It’s cheaper to throw away and replace than fix for many function.” With the Google Chrome OS model though you don’t even have to throw them away and if something goes wrong, Google will replace the dead unit.

2. Ease of use
Linux has a reputation for being hard to use. It’s non-deserved. We’re long, long way from the days when you needed to be a shell wizard to use Linux. That said, desktop Linux, whether you use KDE or GNOME, requires you to learn a new way of doing things no matter whether you come from Windows or Mac OS X. Even the new, easier-to-use Ubuntu Unity interface is quite a change from any other desktop.
With Chrome OS, though, well let me ask you a question: Can you use a Web browser? If the answer is yes-and if it’s not how are you reading this story!?–you can use Chrome OS. The interface is the Chrome Web browser and that’s it. There’s no need to learn anything new. If you know how to use a computer at all, you can use a Chromebook.

Microsoft could lose billions in sales to Google's Chromebook

Microsoft could lose billions in sales to Google's Chromebook

Google's Chromebook subscription program could seriously pinch Microsoft enterprise licensing revenue. The $28 per month per user fee is bargain-basement pricing compared to what businesses now pay Microsoft for software and OEMs for supporting hardware. Google could easily take $1 billion a year in software revenue from Microsoft, says one licensing expert, with the number substantially growing over several years.

Earlier today, Google announced June 15 as launch date for Chromebook, which will initially be available from Acer and Samsung with 11.6-inch or 12.1-inch displays, respectively. Prices start at $349, for notebooks with Intel Atom dual-core processors and limited local storage, running Chrome OS. But there is another acquisition option -- a monthly subscription for business and education markets. School price is $20/month per student and for businesses the aforementioned $28/month per user. The subscription price requires businesses to make a 3-year commitment. Microsoft volume-licensing customers typically also license software for three years, although a 2-year option is available.

Don't laugh, Chromebooks will likely seduce a lot of businesses

Don't laugh, Chromebooks will likely seduce a lot of businesses

Most of the IT professionals I know scoff or snicker when I bring up the topic of Google Chrome OS. But, just as IT pros used to roundly dismiss the idea of cloud computing — and many of them are now climbing over each other to tout their cloud and virtualization expertise — it might not be long before IT also warms up to Chrome OS, out of necessity.

On Wednesday at Google I/O 2011, Google unveiled Chromebooks and the Chromebooks for Businessprogram. Google made a hard sell for its cloud-based PC platform and for the new business program that will allow businesses to rent Chromebooks for a low monthly cost per user.

Expect Google Chrome OS for Notebooks on June 15th at Best Buy and Amazon and why not about tables

Expect Google Chrome OS for Notebooks on June 15th at Best Buy and Amazon and why not about tables

After a long wait, Google has announced that the first Chrome OS-based notebooks will be available for order at Amazon and Best Buy on June 15. The devices, built by Samsung and Acer, respectively, offer a lightweight notebook style. Acer’s option comes with an 11.6-inch HD display and 6 hours of battery life. It’s running the Intel Atom processor. Samsung’s notebook, on the other hand, features a 12.1-inch display and boasts 8.5 hours of continuous usage on a single charge. Like Acer’s option, Samsung’s platform runs the Intel Atom processor, and includes an HD Webcam. Though recent reports suggest that Google might eventually bring Chrome OS to tablets, for now, the company’s plan is to offer its latest operating system only on lightweight notebooks, in spite of the rapid rise of tablet sales and wide speculation that users are choosing to buy tablets instead of notbooks. Why did Google choose notebooks over tablets to run Chrome OS? And perhaps most importantly, was it a good idea? The second question won’t be answered for months. Here’s why Google spurned tablets and chose notebooks for Chrome OS.

    Is Microsoft in Point Blank?

    Is Microsoft in Point Blank?

With the launch of Chromebook it is clear beyound doubts that the google team is targeting the microsoft corporation;the most powerful opponent to them.

The move is Google's first directly onto Microsoft's home turf of PC operating systems and the Office suite software – a pair of monopolies that generate around $5bn of profits for the company every quarter. Until now it has largely avoided direct competition with Bill Gates company on its strongest areas, focusing instead on internet areas such as search and webmail and online document services.

PC sales have grown steadily over the past 15 years, with brief dips during the recession, but there are signs of slowdowns, especially in Europe and the US, among consumers. Businesses are Microsoft's most loyal customers. Google is aiming at such "enterprise" customers, too, with the suggestion that their data will be safer in the cloud than on a PC that could get lost or stolen.

The intention is that it will encourage people to spend more time on the internet – where they are more likely to use Google and so see or click on its adverts, because Google is the dominant provider of search adverts, with about 90% of world share.
