Embrace the Next Giant Leap in Computing – the Cloud

Embrace the Next Giant Leap in Computing – the Cloud

The world of computing has been evolving for the last three decades at a steady pace: at first, it was the Main Frames, which used to fill up entire buildings with an aura of menace around them, that could potentially scare off the faint-hearted, while inhibiting the drive to embrace computing; then came the PC, the desktop as we know it; when the use of PC became widespread, the client-server system was born, something that you and I are still using right now while reading the Asian Tribune - extracting the contents from a server in Sweden, on to your own device, the client, regardless of where you are.
Things have already started to change in a dramatic way. As far as consumers are concerned, the transition may be seamless unless the ‘big boys’ in the world of computing get into a digital equivalent of a very-public fist fight. The credit for popularizing the concept goes to Amazon.com, the online retail giant, and Salesforce.com; they revolutionized the Cloud computing with a voracious global appeal which in turn gave the established pioneers in the computing field a wake-up call. Microsoft got on board with its own cloud – Windows Azure Cloud.
Ordinary folks are already using the Cloud in a small way, perhaps, without knowing that they make short incursions into the illusive realm. For instance, when you trace down an email, you are looking for something that is already in the Cloud; because, it is probably stored in a server owned by Yahoo, Goggle, Facebook or Microsoft - somewhere on the internet. If you use Flicker or digital Vaults for photos or music files or videos, you are in the Cloud too – with both feet on it
If you want to catch a glimpse of the Cloud computing, please sign up with www.cloudo.com – an instant registration in a matter of seconds – and then log on to your own ‘desktop’ computer on the Cloud, seconds later.
